Lawrence M. Cox was talking to someone in car when he was fatally shot Tuesday night in the North Lawndale neighborhood om the West Side.
The 29-year-old was inside a vehicle talking to someone in the 3400 block of West Madison about 10:05 p.m. when a gunman approached and opened fire, striking Cox in the side of his abdomen, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Cox, of the 3800 block of West Van Buren, was driven by his friend to the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, authorities said. He was later transferred to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:44 p.m.
Detectives are investigating whether the shooting may have been gang-related.
